Kilo (experimental)
Configure Kilo in Happier, including install, machine-local login, and current limitations.
Happier supports Kilo as a local CLI-backed provider.
Kilo is an experimental integration. It works and people use it daily, but its surface is younger than Claude, Codex or OpenCode and is more likely to change. What it supports today is in Agent capabilities.
Requirements
- Kilo CLI installed locally
- binary available on
PATH(or setHAPPIER_KILO_PATH)
Install Kilo
Install Kilo on your machine, then restart Happier:
npm install -g @kilocode/cli@latest
kilo --versionHappier can install it for you:
happier install provider kilo
kilo --versionLocal authentication in Happier
Kilo supports launching its native login flow from:
- Settings → AI & Agents → AI backends → Kilo
From there you can:
- open Kilo and start its
/connectflow directly inside Happier - use Check now to re-run auth detection on the selected machine
Auth-status detection for Kilo is currently conservative. Happier can open the login flow, but may still show Unknown if Kilo does not expose a safe non-interactive local auth signal.

Enable Kilo in Happier (experimental)
Kilo is behind Happier’s experimental providers rollout.
In the app:
- Settings
- AI & Agents → AI backends
- Kilo (experimental)
Notes
- Kilo runs locally on your machine through the real Kilo CLI.
- Session capabilities such as resume, models, modes, and permissions remain capability-driven and can evolve with the installed runtime.
- When in doubt, treat Kilo’s own CLI configuration as the source of truth for provider-native behavior.
Troubleshooting
“Kilo not found”
- Confirm Kilo is installed:
kilo --version - Restart Happier after installing.
- If Kilo isn’t on PATH, set
HAPPIER_KILO_PATHto the absolute path of thekilobinary.
“Not authenticated”
Use the Kilo provider settings page in Happier or run Kilo’s normal local login flow in your terminal, then use Check now.
